The mandatory IKE website is not just a promotion tool. It is a corporate transparency obligation: every Private Capital Company (IKE) must obtain a corporate website within one month of its incorporation, display specific details and register its address in GEMI.
This does not mean that a rough home page or a social network profile is enough. The website must be active, accessible, up to date and clearly present the information required by Article 47 of Law 4072/2012. From 1 January 2026, the new framework of administrative penalties for violations of GEMI obligations also applies, which makes the compliance check even more important.

Mandatory IKE website: what Article 47 provides
The basic provision is in Article 47 of Law 4072/2012. According to it, the IKE must obtain a corporate website within one month of its incorporation. The details are displayed under the care and responsibility of the manager.
The law also provides that the company’s website is registered in GEMI. Several IKEs may use a shared website only when the content of each company is clearly distinct. Until a website is obtained, the company must provide the required information free of charge and without delay to anyone who requests it. This temporary information obligation does not cancel the one-month deadline.
Which companies does it concern?
The mandatory IKE website concerns IKEs and Single-Member IKEs, regardless of industry, turnover or whether they serve customers exclusively offline. The age of the company also creates no exception. If an older IKE does not currently have a functioning corporate website, it needs to close the gap and check its registration in GEMI.
The 10 mandatory details on an IKE website
For the mandatory IKE website to be genuinely useful, the company details must be in a visible, fixed place. The most practical solution is a separate “Company Details” page with a permanent link in the footer.
- Full name of the company, together with the indication “I.K.E.” or “Single-Member I.K.E.”.
- Company capital, as applicable after any changes.
- Total amount of guarantee contributions of Article 79, even when it is zero.
- GEMI number of the company.
- Registered office and exact address of the IKE.
- Full names of all partners.
- Addresses of the partners.
- Contribution category of each partner: capital, non-capital or guarantee.
- Person or persons who exercise management.
- “In liquidation” indication, when the company is at that stage.
Article 47 par. 1 also requires that the corporate website is stated on the company’s documents, together with the basic company details. In practice it is useful to also show the VAT number, the competent tax office (DOY), a corporate email and a contact phone number. These strengthen transparency, but should not be confused with the exact core of the provision.
Registering the website in GEMI
The mandatory IKE website starts with building the page, but that is only the first part. The full URL of the corporate website must be registered in GEMI. Without this action, the existence of a site alone does not complete the corporate publicity obligation.
Practical sequence of actions
- A domain is registered in the company’s name or under clearly agreed corporate control.
- The website is created and the “Company Details” page is published.
- It is checked that the site works over HTTPS and does not require login to view the information.
- The relevant registration or amendment application is submitted to the GEMI electronic services.
- The registration receipt is kept and the company’s public image is re-checked.
The exact route or type of application may depend on the company’s status and the competent GEMI Service. For procedural or legal matters, the IKE’s accountant or legal advisor must confirm the appropriate step. The official portal for the relevant services is the businessportal.gr.
Mandatory IKE website and GEMI fines from 2026
Joint Ministerial Decision (KYA) 46982/2025 set the framework of administrative penalties for non-compliant GEMI obligors. According to the official announcement of the General Secretariat for Trade, fines apply from 1 January 2026 and the amounts generally range from €100 to €100,000, depending on the violation and the relevant criteria.
Precision is needed: the decision does not provide a single, standalone amount titled “fine for the absence of an IKE website”. It regulates more broadly violations concerning registration, entry, publicity and display of company details. Therefore, the actual amount of any penalty depends on the type of omission and the facts of the specific company.
| Checkpoint | What must exist |
|---|---|
| Active website | Accessible domain with HTTPS and no login restriction |
| Corporate publicity | All the details of Article 47, clear and up to date |
| GEMI registration | Full URL declared and proof available |
| Changes | Synchronization of the site and company records after every change |
How to set up a corporate IKE website properly
The mandatory IKE website may start from a legal need, but it does not have to end up as a page that merely “exists”. With the right structure it can at the same time strengthen credibility, explain the services and generate new contacts.
1. Domain and real control
The domain is the digital asset that will be registered in GEMI. The IKE must know who the registrar is, who has access to the account and who renews the registration. A domain that sits exclusively in a third party’s account creates operational risk.
2. Hosting, SSL and stable availability
The site must be available, secure and fast. An SSL certificate, regular backups, updates and uptime monitoring are not decorative services. They protect the company’s public URL and reduce the risk of it appearing offline.
3. Clean content architecture
A basic but professional structure includes a home page, services, company profile, contact details, privacy policy and a separate company details page. The link to the company details must be visible in the footer on every page.
4. Accessibility and mobile experience
Information must not be hidden behind popups, cookie walls or hard-to-read components. The page needs to display properly on mobile, have sufficient contrast, clear headings and real text that search engines and assistive technologies can read.
5. SEO that serves real goals
Technical compliance does not rule out organic visibility. Good titles, descriptions, schema, internal links and useful content can make the website a point of reference for customers and partners. Frequently asked questions about the mandatory IKE website
Does every IKE need a website?
Yes. The mandatory IKE website is provided for by Article 47 of Law 4072/2012, under which the IKE obtains a corporate website within one month of its incorporation. The obligation also applies to the Single-Member IKE.
Is a Facebook or LinkedIn page enough?
A corporate presence on a third-party platform does not safely replace the controlled corporate URL that the provision requires and that is registered in GEMI. The IKE needs its own accessible corporate website.
Do the partners' addresses have to be displayed?
Article 47 par. 2 refers to the full names and addresses of the partners, together with the contribution category of each. For specific data protection issues or application to your own case, seek legal advice.
Where should the company details go?
The clearest solution is a standalone “Company Details” page, accessible without login and linked from the footer. The details must be legible and up to date.
Is it enough to create the site, or must it be registered in GEMI?
The website must also be registered in GEMI. Creating the site without registering the URL does not complete the required corporate publicity step.
Is there a specific fine for lacking an IKE website?
There is no single amount that applies mechanically to every case under this description. The framework of KYA 46982/2025 covers different GEMI violations and the size of the penalty depends on the type of violation and the facts of the company.
From an obligation to a useful corporate tool
The mandatory IKE website first meets a clear legal requirement: it publishes the right details, remains accessible and is registered in GEMI. Good implementation, however, goes a step further. It gives the company a reliable digital foundation for communication, sales, partnerships and growth.
Novatempus can take on the design, development and technical support of the website, with a proper structure for company details and room to grow. For the final legal wording and the registration process, the company must work with its accountant or legal advisor.
